It is a synthetic stand-in for a fraction of a pineal gland extract called epithalamin, developed in Russia by Vladimir Khavinson's group, and the AEDG sequence has since been identified within the natural pineal polypeptide complex [4]. The FDA and PubChem spell the compound Epitalon. The market spells it Epithalon. Same molecule, two transliterations.
It is not a GLP-1. It is not an incretin, it does nothing to appetite or gastric emptying, and it does not belong in a weight-loss conversation. Readers reach this page from this site's incretin coverage because epithalon shows up in the same longevity threads, which is a fact about internet threads rather than about pharmacology. The telomere and telomerase claims that carry its marketing rest on a literature that is largely Russian-language and largely from one group, with more recent laboratory work reporting effects in cultured human cells. That is inside the tolerance and it is under the label. Both halves of that sentence matter. A label figure on a research peptide vial is a nominal fill target with a tolerance band around it, not a guarantee of exact mass, and 9.64 mg sits comfortably inside a band that runs from 9 mg to 11 mg.
