An Epithalon protocol exists, which is a stranger situation than it sounds. Methods have been published in enough detail for another laboratory to follow. What has largely not happened is the following, and a protocol nobody else picks up is a set of instructions addressed to people who never arrived.
That is a different failure from the usual one, and it is worth understanding on its own terms. Most compounds sold this way have no research plan of any kind behind them. Here there is one, and the problem sits one step further along.

An Epithalon protocol is instructions written for strangers
The word protocol carries authority from research, and the authority is deserved for a specific reason that gets forgotten.
A methods section is not a record of what a laboratory did for its own benefit. It is a set of instructions written so that a group on another continent, with different equipment and no stake in the outcome, can do the same thing and see whether the same result appears. That is the point of writing it down in that much detail. The protocol is the mechanism by which a private observation becomes a public claim.
Judged that way, a protocol's value is not in its existence but in its uptake. An unused protocol is a hypothesis with formatting.
This is the sense in which an Epithalon protocol both does and does not exist. The instructions were written. The strangers they were addressed to have largely not written back.
What happens when nobody picks the instructions up
The published record on this compound comes largely from the work of Khavinson and colleagues in St Petersburg, covering pineal peptide preparations, the synthetic tetrapeptide, and claims about telomerase and lifespan. Independent replication outside that programme is limited.
The consequence is precise. Every result in that body of work shares the same hands, the same reagents, the same animal strains, the same assays and the same expectations about what should be found. If any of those contains a systematic error, it is present throughout, and additional work from the same source cannot reveal it. Correlated evidence does not accumulate the way independent evidence does, however much of it there is.
This is not an accusation of anything. It is a structural statement about what a body of work can establish on its own.
Concentration in one group is not misconduct
It is important to say this plainly, because the alternative reading is both unfair and analytically lazy.
Research programmes cluster all the time. A laboratory develops an interest, builds the specialised methods, trains a generation of students and publishes on the same theme for decades. Long standing expertise is a genuine asset, and much good science is produced this way. Nothing about a concentrated literature implies bad faith.

Large replication efforts across several areas of biomedical research have found that a substantial share of striking published findings do not reproduce in other laboratories, with no fraud involved anywhere.
The causes are mundane. Reagents differ between batches. Cell lines drift. Animal strains and housing differ. Unwritten technique in a skilled laboratory affects results in ways nobody thought to record. Analytical choices made after seeing the data can turn noise into a finding without anyone noticing they have done it.
None of that is detectable from inside. The only reliable test is somebody else trying it, which is why replication is a load bearing part of the process rather than a courtesy extended to a claim everybody already believes.
It is also why repetition within a group provides so little reassurance. A laboratory that reproduces its own result has demonstrated that its methods are stable, which is a real and necessary thing to demonstrate. It has not tested whether the result depends on those methods, and that is the question an outside reader needs answered.

Read the right-hand column. The first two rows are satisfied and neither of them can catch the kind of error the last three exist to catch.
The human schedules that circulate under the same word
Alongside the research sense of the word, there is the other one: a page selling vials that prints a quantity, a frequency and a duration and calls it a protocol.
That document has none of the properties of the first kind. It was not filed before results existed. Nobody reviewed it. Nothing is recorded if it is ignored, and nobody answers for it if following it causes harm. It cannot be violated, because it makes no demands, and it can never be shown to be wrong, because nothing about the outcome is ever measured.
Its persuasive power comes entirely from the borrowed word. A reader who has heard that an Epithalon protocol exists in the research literature, then meets a schedule on a sales page using the same term, has no obvious cue that the two objects are unrelated. Strip the word away and it is a product page describing how to use the product, written by the party selling it, which is a genre nobody confuses with a research plan in other markets.
Where this leaves someone holding a printed plan
If somebody has handed you a document, three questions sort it quickly, and none of them involves evaluating the quantities.
Ask who wrote it and what happens to them if it is wrong. Ask what record would exist if it were ignored. And ask who other than the author has done this and reported what happened.
For a registered study protocol, all three have answers. For a methods section from a research paper, the first two have answers and the third is exactly the open question for this compound. For a sales page, none of them does.
Notice that the quantities are the same in all three cases. A number does not become more reliable because the document containing it is more serious, and it does not become less reliable because the page is selling something. What changes is whether anything in the world would push back if the number were wrong.
